MoClo atfA
atfA is a wax ester synthetase/acyl-CoA diacylglycerol acyltransferase gene from Acinetobacter sp. ADP1. In its functionality as an acyltransferase, it catalyzes the reaction between ethanol and a fatty acyl-CoA to form a fatty acid ethyl ester (FAEE), a form of biodiesel. When combined with a pyruvate decarboxylase (pdc) and an alcohol dehydrogenase (adhB), this gene can be used to insert a pathway for production of biodiesel.
